A speeding car ran over four pedestrians outside the Bhopal railway station on Monday evening.
As per the information, all four victims sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The accident took place around 8 PM near the main road leading to Platform No. 6. According to eyewitnesses, the car was being driven by a jawan of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Jawan came to pick up a guest, hit four people Police said the ITBP constable had driven to the station from the Kokta Transport Nagar area to receive a guest. During this, he lost control of his car and hit four people at separate spots on the road. Following the accident, the driver attempted to flee, but local people managed to catch him and handed him over to the police. Driver suspected to be drunk, sent for medical test Eyewitnesses alleged that the accused appeared to be heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident. The police later confirmed that the driver was sent for a medical examination to verify the claim. Police identify accused as ITBP constable Rajendra According to Station House Officer (SHO) Ajay Soni, the accused driver has been identified as Rajendra, son of Jagdish, a resident of the ITBP campus in Kokta. “On Monday night around 8 PM, Rajendra came to Bhopal railway station in his private car to pick up a guest. Outside the station, he drove rashly and hit four different pedestrians,” the SHO said. The police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving and are awaiting the results of the medical report to determine if the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
