A passenger bus collided with a motorcycle, leading to a fire that quickly engulfed both vehicles on the Jhansi–Gwalior Highway in Datia district on Monday evening . One dead, woman critically injured According to police, the collision occurred around 6 PM near Panchkavi Ki Toriya turn in the Hada Pahad area. The impact was so strong that the motorcycle burst into flames instantly, and the fire spread to the front portion of the bus within moments. The motorcyclist, identified as Jagdish Yadav, a resident of Datia, died on the spot. A woman riding pillion, identified as Mamta, wife of Rajneesh Dubey, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Eyewitness Babulal said, “The crash was very severe. The bike shattered into pieces and immediately caught fire, which spread to the bus. Passengers screamed and ran to save their lives.” Passengers escape, bus front portion burnt As flames engulfed the bus, panic broke out among passengers, who jumped out or ran to safety. The front portion of the bus was completely gutted, though all passengers managed to escape unhurt. Following the incident, a long traffic jam formed on both sides of the highway. The bus driver and conductor fled the scene immediately after the crash. Police and firefighters reached the spot soon after being alerted and brought the fire under control after considerable effort. Police investigation underway Datia police have launched a search for the bus owner and driver based on the vehicle’s registration number. Preliminary investigations suggest high speed as a possible cause of the accident. Police officials said they are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting eyewitness statements to determine the exact cause.
