For the second consecutive day, the Food Safety Department and District Administration in Indore carried out a major operation against food adulteration, seizing over 600 kilograms of adulterated ghee and edible oil on Thursday. The action was taken under the direction of Collector Shivam Verma, following Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s recent orders to intensify action against food adulteration across the state. The raid took place at a house located in Palhar Nagar, where officials discovered that adulterated ghee was being manufactured and repackaged under the labels of leading dairy brands such as Amul, Sanchi, Nova, and Malwa. Fake branded wrappers and flavour essences found The operation was led by Food Safety Officer Manish Swami, who informed that the raid was conducted at the residence of Giriraj Gupta, the proprietor of Prabhushree Traders in Malharganj. During inspection, the team found 29 tins of vanaspati, 13 tins of oil, 3 tins of ghee, 5 bottles of flavour essence, and over 350 empty branded wrappers and outer covers of popular ghee brands. Officials said that around 600 litres of adulterated oil and ghee were being packed and sold under these fake labels. Samples of the seized material have been sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory, Bhopal, for detailed chemical analysis. The premises have been sealed, and legal proceedings are underway. Authorities have also informed the companies whose brand names were misused, advising them to take appropriate legal steps against the offenders. Back-to-back crackdowns across the city This latest seizure comes just a day after a major raid at Shree Ram Milk Food Dairy in Palda Industrial Area, where officials confiscated over 3,000 kilograms of fake ghee being manufactured under the brand name Mother Choice. In that case, it was found that vegetable fat and other adulterants were being used to make ghee falsely marketed as pure cow ghee. The value of the seized stock was estimated at Rs18 lakh. With two major busts in as many days, the Indore administration has made it clear that the campaign against food adulteration will continue relentlessly until all illegal units are shut down and offenders are brought to justice.
