Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will visit Khirkiya on Monday, where he will transfer ₹489 crore to 20,652 private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act with a single click. Ahead of his visit, on Sunday, Narmadapuram Division Commissioner KG Tiwari and Inspector General of Police Mithilesh Shukla inspected preparations in Khirkiya and Bawadia. Deputy Inspector General of Police Prashant Khare also accompanied them. The officials reviewed the event venue, helipad, security arrangements, as well as the stage and seating setup at the venue in Khirkiya. Commissioner reviews CM’s visit preparations Commissioner KG Tiwari gave necessary instructions to the officers present during the inspection. He also provided guidelines regarding the seating arrangements for visitors and students participating in the upcoming programme. Additionally, he instructed officials to carry out necessary repairs on the Chief Minister’s travel route and the helipad after reviewing the sites. During inspection, Collector Siddharth Jain, Superintendent of Police Shashank, Additional Collector Purushottam Kumar, Joint Collector Satish Rai, SDM Khirkiya Shivangi Baghel, and other district officials were also present. 8.5 lakh children to benefit from fee reimbursement The state government will reimburse school fees for the year 2023-24 for 8.45 lakh children who are studying free of cost in private schools. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav will also use this occasion to perform ground-breaking ceremonies for development projects, inaugurate new initiatives, and distribute benefits to beneficiaries of various public welfare schemes. Right to Education ensures free admission Under the Right to Education Act, children from disadvantaged groups and weaker sections are entitled to free admission on at least 25 percent of seats in the first entry class at nearby non-grant private schools. Currently, about 8.5 lakh children in the state are receiving free education in private schools under this provision. Long-term impact since 2011-12 This fee reimbursement scheme has been in place since 2011-12, and so far, 19 lakh children have benefited from it. The state government has reimbursed school fees totaling ₹3,000 crore up to now, providing significant support to families and promoting education for children from weaker sections.
