The victim, identified as Asha Yadav, was initially admitted to the district hospital before being referred to Bhopal. However, as no attendant accompanied her, she remained in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the local hospital, where she died during treatment on Thursday night. Argument allegedly led to knife attack According to Kotwali police, Asha Yadav and Ganpat Chaure had been living together in a rented house near Lifestyle Colony on Malakhedi Road. Station House Officer Gaurav Singh Bundela said the couple allegedly got into an argument in the Nand Vihar area at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, following which Ganpat allegedly stabbed Asha in the abdomen and chest with a knife. Based on the victim’s statement while she was alive, police registered a case of knife attack against the accused. After her death, investigators began proceedings related to the homicide and intensified efforts to locate him. Doctors said the abdominal wound had caused significant bleeding, and the victim was admitted to the ICU in critical condition. Hospital authorities also noted that no attendant was present with the patient during her treatment. Accused allegedly told neighbours about the attack Residents of the locality claimed that shortly after the incident, Ganpat entered the neighbourhood and allegedly told a neighbouring woman that he had stabbed Asha. According to locals, he then locked the rented house, took a bag with him, and fled the area. When police later visited the residence, they found it locked and questioned nearby residents as part of the investigation. Neighbour vacated house after incident Police also found that another tenant living adjacent to the couple vacated the premises the day after the stabbing. Authorities are speaking to local residents and gathering information that may help establish the sequence of events and locate the accused. Victim’s family being traced Police said Asha Yadav was originally from a village in the Makhan Nagar police station area, while Ganpat Chaure is believed to be a resident of Resalpur village.
