Two elderly brothers died and left their grandson critically injured after their motorcycle was allegedly hit by a speeding tractor while they were on their way to attend a family function in the Ujjain district. According to the information, the victims, identified as Pirulal Mothaliya (80) and his younger brother, Bhagirath Mothaliya (75), along with Pirulal’s grandson, Abhishek, residents of Marandwa village, were travelling to their nephew’s baby shower ceremony on Thursday when the collision occurred. Speeding tractor allegedly hit motorcycle from behind Police said that around 25–30 kilometres from their village, a tractor approaching from behind allegedly rammed into the motorcycle on the main road. The impact threw all three riders onto the road, leaving them with serious injuries. Passersby rushed to help and transported the injured to a hospital. One brother died on the way, another during treatment Pirulal Mothaliya succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital. His younger brother, Bhagirath Mothaliya, later died during treatment at a private hospital in Ujjain on Thursday evening. Abhishek remains under medical care, and his condition is reported to be critical. Victims had farming and public service backgrounds According to family members, Pirulal Mothaliya was engaged in agriculture, while Bhagirath Mothaliya was a retired employee of the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board (MPEB). The family also said that one of their relatives currently serves as a patwari in Ujjain. Preparations for the baby shower ceremony came to an abrupt halt as relatives gathered to mourn the loss. After post-mortem examinations on Friday morning, the bodies of the two brothers were handed over to the family and taken back to their village for the last rites. Police register case, search for tractor driver Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident. Authorities are searching for the tractor driver, who reportedly fled the scene, while officials continue to examine the circumstances that led to the fatal collision.
