Panic spread in Ujjain district on Thursday after the bodies of a man and a woman were found in a field in Brahmankheda village under the Raghvi police station limits. The two bodies were found lying about 100 metres apart near the edge of the field. Villagers informed police after spotting the bodies. Raghvi police station in-charge Virendra Bandewar reached the spot with his team and inspected the scene. In the preliminary investigation, police identified the deceased as Kaluram Verma (35) and Manju Sharma (36). Both were residents of Bailakheda village in Ujjain district. According to local sources, the two had reportedly been in a relationship for a long time. Kaluram was unmarried, while Manju was married. Injury marks found on the head Police said injury marks were found on the heads of both the deceased. Based on the initial findings, investigators are treating the case as a suspected double murder. However, the exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem examination and scientific investigation. Considering the seriousness of the case, DSP Zeden Lingjerpa also reached the spot and inspected the scene. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to collect evidence and gathered important samples and other material from the location. Police questioning locals Police are questioning people from the surrounding area and recording statements of the victims’ family members. Officials said all possible angles are being examined as part of the investigation. Police said it would be premature to draw any conclusions at this stage. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and the post-mortem report.
