Four people from Uttar Pradesh were killed in a train accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena on Sunday. The deceased included a mother and her son. Following rumours that a mobile phone had exploded and caused a fire, some passengers panicked and got off the Udaipur Intercity Express. Four of them were then hit by another train. The victims were identified as Kanchan Singh (25), wife of Mohit Singh and a resident of Meerut; Shakuntala Singh (60), wife of Bhura Singh from Runakta in Agra; Afreen (35), wife of Nadeem; and Asad (4), son of Nadeem Khan, both residents of Agra. Afreen and Asad were mother and son. According to railway authorities, the accident occurred on the Hetampur-Dholpur rail section under the Jhansi Division of North Central Railway. Train number 19665, the Khajuraho-Udaipur Intercity Express, had stopped between Hetampur and Dholpur stations at around 4:15 pm on Sunday after its emergency chain was pulled. Around the same time, rumours spread that a mobile phone had exploded inside a coach. The rumour triggered panic among passengers, prompting several of them to hurriedly get off the train. Got down on the track and came under another train Some of the passengers who had disembarked from the Udaipur Intercity Express moved onto the adjacent up-line track. At that moment, train number 20424, the Firozpur-Seoni Patalkot Express, was passing through the section at high speed. Four passengers standing on the track were struck by the train and died on the spot. Passengers panicked after mobile blast alert According to passenger Pooja, who was returning from Bageshwar Dham, chaos erupted in the coach after rumours of a mobile phone blast spread. As soon as the train stopped following the chain pulling, frightened passengers got off and began running towards the tracks. Teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and the local administration rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident. A rescue operation was launched. All bodies sent for post-mortem Morena SP Dharmraj Meena said – Our team was taking action on sand storage in Sarai Chhola and Civil Line area. During this time, information was received from a shepherd villager that a train was stopped and some incident had occurred. As soon as the information was received, both police teams were dispatched to the spot. This incident occurred in the Dholpur and Morena border area. All bodies have been taken into custody. Necessary legal procedures are being carried out. Every possible assistance will be provided to the relatives of the deceased. Currently, the bodies are being sent for post-mortem. Police teams from both areas immediately rushed to the spot. The accident occurred near the Dholpur-Morena border region. All four bodies have been taken into custody and the necessary legal procedures are being carried out. The families of the deceased will be provided all possible assistance.
