A woman in Sagar district has alleged that 2 unidentified youths threw acid on her while she was returning home on Friday night. The incident was reported in the Cantt police station area. According to Archana Ahirwar, 36, a resident of Vitthal Nagar, she was on her way back after purchasing medicine from a medical store when she encountered two young men near Kajliwan Ground. She alleged that the duo attacked her with acid before fleeing the spot. Hearing her cries for help, local residents rushed to the scene and informed her family. She was initially taken to the district hospital, from where doctors referred her to Bundelkhand Medical College after assessing her condition. The attack left burn injuries on the woman’s back. However, police officials said they are also examining the incident from other angles, as certain aspects of the case appear suspicious during the preliminary investigation. According to the Cantt police station in-charge, Rohit Dongare, there is no CCTV camera installed at the place where this incident happened with the woman. To identify the accused, the police are scanning other CCTVs installed on that route and in the surrounding areas. So far in the investigation, no clear reason for the attack on the woman has come to light. The TI said that the woman had stated that she had been attacked with a flammable substance. During questioning, she has also named some suspects. The police are investigating all points.
