Grandfather shows obscene videos to 12-year-old, says ‘learn this’:Girl breaks down while revealing alleged abuse to mother; FIR registered

A 60-year-old businessman in Gwalior allegedly subjected his own granddaughter to inappropriate acts. He would reportedly show obscene videos to the 12-year-old girl on his mobile phone and tell her, “You are growing up. Learn these things, this is what you will have to do in future.” At times, he allegedly put his hands inside her T-shirt and would also make her sit on his lap. The alleged abuse had been continuing for the past four months. The girl’s parents were divorced in October 2023. The court had granted custody of the child to her father, who runs a family business in Gwalior. Her mother is an astrologer based in Surat, Gujarat. In March 2026, when school holidays began, the lady astrologer brought her daughter with her to Surat. When the mother saw her daughter scared and frightened, she asked the reason and she broke down crying. She told about her grandfather’s actions. Learning this, the mother went straight to the police station. Surat police has sent the case diary to Jankganj police station in Gwalior for further action. Gwalior police registered an FIR on Sunday and started investigation. The accused has absconded.
Parents married in 2012, divorced in 2023 Janakganj Police said the 37-year-old complainant, originally from Gwalior, is currently working as an astrologer in Surat, Gujarat. She married a businessman from Gwalior in 2012. Their daughter was born two years later. Due to family disputes, the couple obtained a divorce through a court order on October 20, 2023. Since custody of the girl was granted to her father, she continued living and studying in Gwalior. She stayed with her father and grandparents. The court had permitted the woman to meet her daughter from time to time. Mother questioned after seeing daughter scared When summer holidays began at school on March 20, 2026, the astrologer travelled to Gwalior and took her daughter to Surat by flight. There, the 12-year-old remained unusually quiet, withdrawn and visibly frightened. She was not speaking openly even with her mother. Initially, the woman believed her daughter’s behaviour might be due to stress related to school and examinations. However, when there was no change in her behaviour even after two to three days, the mother lovingly seated her on her lap and asked whether she was facing any problem or tension. The girl then burst into tears. What she revealed left her mother stunned. Girl alleges grandfather harassed her after drinking alcohol The minor told her mother through tears that her grandfather had been behaving inappropriately with her for the past four months at their Gwalior home. She said that whenever no one was at home, or after everyone had gone to sleep at night, her grandfather would wake her up after consuming alcohol. He allegedly forced her to sleep beside him, made her sit on his lap and touched her inappropriately by putting his hand inside her T-shirt. The girl further alleged that whenever she cried and asked him to stop, he would show her obscene videos on his mobile phone and tell her, “Learn these things, you are growing up.” The accused also threatened to kill The child said that when she resisted, her grandfather threatened and intimidated her. According to her statement, he warned her, “If you tell anyone in the family about this, I will kill you. I will never allow you to go to Surat to meet your mother.” Because of this fear, the young girl continued to suffer in silence and could not tell anyone about the alleged abuse. After learning about her daughter’s ordeal, the mother went directly to the police station and lodged a named complaint against her father-in-law. Police say search for accused is underway Janakganj Police said a zero FIR had been received from Surat, Gujarat. A case has now been registered and an investigation has been launched. Police are searching for the accused, who is currently absconding.
