In a shocking incident from Gwalior, a newly married woman died just 25 days after her wedding. Two days later, her husband was also found dead at home. The husband, deeply distressed over his wife’s death, allegedly hanged himself in the bathroom on Friday. Both incidents are from the Murar police station area and Gola Ka Mandir locality. Police have not recovered any suicide note from either scene, making the case highly mysterious. Bride Megha died at her maternal home on Wednesday The 23-year-old bride Megha, also known as Jyoti, lived near Hurawali Link Road (near Geru Wale Bungalow) in the Murar police station area. She was married just 25 days ago to Siddharth Kandil (26), a contractor from Pinto Park, Kunj Vihar Colony (Phase-1), in a grand ceremony. Megha’s father, Gurveer Singh, had spent a significant amount on the wedding, and she was reportedly happy after marriage. On May 1, she had come to her parental home from her in-laws’ house. On Wednesday, her father had gone to attend a condolence meeting at a relative’s place, leaving Megha and her mother Geeta at home. Around noon, when her mother went to the room on the first floor, she found Megha hanging from a noose made of a dupatta. Husband found hanging in bathroom two days later While both families were still struggling to cope with Megha’s death, another tragedy struck on Friday at the Pinto Park residence. Siddharth Kandil, a contractor by profession, allegedly hanged himself in the bathroom using a cloth, reportedly driven by grief over his wife’s death. The incident came to light when Siddharth’s father, Parmaal Singh, did not find him on the bed. After searching, he found the bathroom door locked from inside. Suspicion arose, and the family called Siddharth’s nephew Shyamveer. After breaking open the door, Siddharth’s body was found hanging inside. Police from Gola Ka Mandir station reached the spot and took the body into custody. Husband and wife lived together for only 5 days The most disturbing aspect of the case is that the couple spent only five days together during their 25-day marriage period. What led to both deaths in such a short span remains unclear, and no one has an answer yet. A forensic team also inspected both locations on Friday. Police to examine mobile phones and digital evidence Given the sensitivity of the case involving two sudden deaths in a newly married couple, Gwalior police are treating the matter with utmost seriousness. Statements from both the bride’s parental side and the groom’s family will be recorded in detail. Police will also examine the mobile phones of both deceased with the help of the cyber cell to check their last calls, WhatsApp chats, and whether any “digital suicide note” or video exists. The exact cause will be clearer after post-mortem reports and call detail records are analysed. Gola Ka Mandir police station in-charge Dharamendra Singh Yadav said that there was a dispute between the couple, which led to the incident. He confirmed that no suicide note was found and investigations are ongoing.
