A 70-year-old woman in Bhopal’s Tara Sewaniya area died after suffering an electric shock. The incident took place when she was sweeping the roof of her house and accidentally touched a high-tension electricity line passing overhead. The accident occurred on May 8. Since then, she had been undergoing treatment at Chirayu Hospital, where she died during treatment on Friday. Family alleges negligence by electricity department The family has accused the electricity department of negligence, stating that they had earlier submitted an application requesting removal of the high-tension line passing over their house, but no action was taken. They also alleged that officials demanded ₹50,000 for shifting the electricity line. The family said they had offered ₹20,000, but the officials did not agree. Police action and investigation Police have registered a case of unnatural death (marg) and handed over the body to the family. A detailed investigation into the matter is currently underway.
