The Indore Police has detained another woman accused in the honey trap and blackmail case linked to liquor businessman Hitendra Singh alias Chintu Thakur. According to sources, the woman detained from Sagar on Wednesday has been identified as Reshu alias Abhilasha Choudhary. Investigators believe she was a key link in the alleged honey trap network. Reshu had earlier served as an office-bearer in a BJP organisational unit. Earlier, the Crime Branch had detained alleged mastermind Shweta Vijay Jain, alleged liquor smuggler Alka Dixit, her son Jaideep, property businessman Lakhan Choudhary, and head constable Vinod Sharma. Police sources said Shweta Jain has expressed her willingness to become a government witness in the case. Police recovering audio and video evidence Crime Branch Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Tripathi said the investigation revealed that Reshu was actively involved in the alleged blackmailing network along with Alka Dixit and Shweta Jain. According to police, Reshu came in contact with Alka Dixit through Shweta Vijay Jain, after which the trio allegedly planned to target influential individuals. Police are now focusing on seizing alleged honey trap videos, audio recordings and other digital evidence believed to be in the possession of Reshu and Alka. Investigators have reportedly recovered several audio and video files from the accused persons’ mobile phones. Meanwhile, head constable Vinod Sharma was also questioned late into the night after police found indications of his direct contact with Alka Dixit. Influential Nimad leader also allegedly targeted During the investigation, police reportedly discovered that Reshu and her associates had also targeted an influential political leader from the Nimad region. The leader reportedly owns a house in Indore in the same locality where Alka Dixit resides. Sources claimed that when Alka attempted to blackmail Chintu Thakur, she referred to her alleged high-level connections. She allegedly showed purported honey trap videos and claimed that she also possessed compromising videos of several influential individuals. FIR registered 19 days after complaint According to sources, police registered an FIR 19 days after receiving the blackmail complaint. Chintu Thakur is already an accused in an attempt-to-murder case registered at Indore’s Azad Nagar police station. Alleged blackmail plot planned during court appearances Sources said Shweta Vijay Jain became acquainted with Alka Dixit while in jail. During court appearances, Shweta allegedly visited Alka along with Reshu, and it was during these meetings that the alleged blackmailing network was planned. Police sources claimed Reshu told Alka that she had contacts with several politicians, property dealers, financiers, liquor businessmen and government officials who could be targeted for extortion. During police remand, Shweta Vijay Jain reportedly admitted that both Alka and Reshu were in contact with her. She also told investigators that she had warned Alka that the people they were attempting to target were highly influential. However, according to police, Alka ignored the warning. Shweta has also conveyed her willingness to turn approver in the case.
