CAS was introduced in the Indian stock market on August 3 this year. New rule: It is a short auction session held around market closing, running until approximately 3:40 PM. During this session, buy and sell orders are matched to determine the official closing price of stocks. Old rule: Previously, the closing price was calculated using the volume-weighted average price (VWAP) of the last 30 minutes, from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Global Practice: Regulators have implemented this new system to bring Indian markets in line with the standards of Asian and global markets such as China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea.
