A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Madhya Pradesh Housing Board was held at Paryavas Bhavan on Thursday, where several key decisions were taken regarding reservation in house allotments. At present, freedom fighters are given 4 percent reservation in Housing Board houses. The Board has now decided to extend this reservation benefit to democracy fighters as well. Board Chairman Om Jain said the decision was taken in line with the intentions of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. In Madhya Pradesh, democracy fighters are those individuals who were jailed under MISA during the Emergency imposed in 1975. Before the board meeting, Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya briefed Chairman Jain about the finer aspects of the board’s functioning. Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Dubey, Board Commissioner Gautam Singh and officials from TNCP, HUDCO and PWD also attended the meeting. The session was chaired by Board Chairman Om Jain. Buyers in reserved category will now have to provide Samagra ID Reserved-category homebuyers in Housing Board schemes will now have to provide their Samagra ID. This has been made mandatory to ensure that no individual is able to avail the reservation benefit more than once. According to existing rules, a person belonging to any reserved category can purchase a house under reservation benefits only once. Start land pooling soon to bring new projects – Jain During the meeting, Chairman Om Jain directed officials to begin work on the land pooling scheme at the earliest in order to bring new projects. He said land pooling would help the Board avoid investing huge capital in purchasing land, while also benefiting farmers. Board Informed About Central Vista and New Collectorate Board Commissioner Gautam Singh also briefed the Board of Directors in detail about the proposed Central Vista and new Collectorate projects planned in Bhopal. The Housing Board is constructing a new administrative complex at the site of the old Collector office. The project will house the Collectorate, Commissioner’s office and IG office under one roof. The new project, being developed under the re-densification policy at a cost of ₹217 crore, has already been floated for tender by the Housing Board.
