couple-ends-life-after-watching-‘qayamat-se-qayamat’-movie:consume-poison-in-hotel-room;-friend-accused-of-facilitating-escape-and-suicide-plan

A couple was found dead in a hotel room in Rewa district, in a case that has shocked investigators. Police suspect the duo died by suicide after being influenced by the Bollywood film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. Forensic examination reportedly found traces of poison in several items recovered from the room, including tandoori roti, paneer, beer, liquor, and drinking water. Hotel room turned into crime scene The incident occurred at “The Empire Hotel” in the Saman police station area. The couple—Ravi Saket (25) and Kajal Saket (21)—checked into the hotel on April 22 and were found dead on the evening of April 23 after the room remained locked for an extended period. Police said the couple had left home under the pretext of attending a wedding and going shopping. Family opposition to relationship cited as possible factor According to police, both families were opposed to the relationship and marriage, which is believed to have contributed to the alleged suicide. Hotel staff informed police after the room remained locked beyond checkout time. Officers later broke open the door and recovered the bodies. Friend’s role under investigation Investigators have identified a third person, Atul Saket, as a key link in the case. He is alleged to have helped the couple leave home, arranged the hotel stay, and misled both families about their whereabouts. Police said Atul used his identity document for booking the hotel room, while the couple stayed without direct verification. He is also suspected of facilitating arrangements related to food, alcohol, and possibly poison before the incident. Families raise questions over circumstances Relatives of both victims have raised doubts about the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The grandfather of the male victim questioned the quantity of alcohol allegedly consumed and demanded access to CCTV footage, suspecting that more individuals may have been present in the room. The girl’s family said they were unaware of the relationship and alleged negligence in handling the body, claiming it was not properly preserved before the postmortem. Allegations of misleading and possible conspiracy The father of the male victim accused Atul of misleading both families, stating that timely intervention could have prevented the tragedy. He also suspected a broader conspiracy behind the deaths. The victim’s brother alleged that the bodies were removed from the scene before family members arrived, raising further concerns over procedural lapses. Police investigation underway Police officials said the case currently appears to be a suicide linked to a romantic relationship and social pressure. However, all angles are being thoroughly investigated. Authorities are examining CCTV footage, hotel records, mobile data, and statements from staff and family members. A formal investigation has been initiated. Film influence being examined, not sole factor Investigators are also looking into whether exposure to tragic love-story content influenced the couple’s mindset. However, police emphasized that such incidents cannot be attributed solely to films, as they usually involve a combination of personal, familial, and psychological factors.
