Gwalior police carried out a combing operation during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, conducting intensive area-wide searches. During the night-long drive, 245 criminals were arrested and sent to lock-up, while 285 old goons and history-sheeters were visited and checked at their residences. In one incident, a permanent warrant accused tried to escape after spotting police and jumped from his balcony onto the road, but was quickly surrounded and arrested by alert police personnel. Throughout the night, criminals kept attempting to flee, but police cordoned off areas and continued detaining them. Roadside checking was also conducted to act against those found loitering without cause. 245 criminals caught, action taken against warrantees During the operation, 245 criminals were arrested, including 134 permanent warrant holders and 111 arrest warrant accused. Additionally, 147 goons and 138 history-sheeters were checked. Police also registered 3 cases of illegal liquor and arrested 13 accused involved in gambling and betting. Officials said such operations will continue in future. The Gwalior SSP stated that combing operations are regularly conducted in the district to maintain law and order and to apprehend habitual offenders who evade police action. The drive also focuses on monitoring those previously involved in criminal activities to ensure they are not re-engaging in offences. Old goons and history-sheeters warned During the operation, preventive action was taken against several active criminals, and records of goons and history-sheeters were updated. All individuals were warned that strict action would be taken if they were found involved in any criminal activity. Police also checked individuals recently released from jail. Checking done through foot patrol On instructions of the Police Superintendent, all station in-charges conducted foot patrolling in their respective areas. Suspicious individuals were stopped and questioned. Police also checked absconding criminals, warrant accused, goons, history-sheeters, and district-banned offenders at their residences. Hotels, lodges, dharamshalas, dhabas, ATMs and public places were also inspected. Police action begins as soon as SSP arrives As soon as the Police Superintendent came into the field during late-night inspection, enforcement action intensified. Senior officers including ASPs Anu Benival, Vidita Dagar, Suman Gurjar and Jaya Raj Kuber supervised the entire operation.
