The Madhya Pradesh Muslim Vikas Parishad organised an All India introductory (parichay) conference on 12 April 2026 at Hotel CFC in Indore city. The programme, held from 11 am to 4 pm, saw a large number of Muslim youth, divorced and widowed men and women participating. The aim of the event was to eliminate the growing dowry system and unnecessary rituals in society and promote simple marriages. More than 40 participants liked each other Programme coordinator Shavez Sikandar said that during the conference, more than 40 boys and girls expressed interest in each other. He said such events are bringing positive change in society and increasing awareness among youth towards dowry-free marriages. Emphasis on dowry-free and ritual-free nikah Speakers at the event said that the dowry system is a social evil and must be eliminated. The conference conveyed the message of promoting simple marriages and avoiding unnecessary customs. According to the council, the initiative is receiving a good response from young people. Promoting Nikah According to Sunnah It was also highlighted during the programme that marriage should be kept simple and in accordance with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Speakers stressed removing non-Islamic rituals to make marriages easier so that people from all sections of society can participate. 17 People Honored During the event, 17 individuals were honoured by social organisation Team B.B.M. for setting examples by conducting marriages without dowry and unnecessary rituals. Good Response Received Earlier Too Council officials said that in previous conferences, more than 400 couples had registered. They added that the initiative continues to receive strong support from society and such events will be organised on a larger scale in the future.
