Sanjeev Singh, also known as Sonu Sardar, a resident of Chinor in Gwalior, arrived at the SP office on Thursday carrying two of his severed fingers. He claimed that his wife had cut his fingers with a sharp weapon, while her family allegedly restrained and beat him. After filing a complaint at the local police station without any action, he approached higher authorities seeking justice. Went to meet wife, attacked at home According to Sanjeev, on 27 March he had gone to meet his wife at her home. During the visit, he said, his brother-in-law Sunil Bhatnagar and co-brother Ravi Jatav allegedly began assaulting him. He claims that in the scuffle, his wife struck his hand with a sharp object, severing two of his fingers. Reached police station in injured condition, FIR not filed Sanjeev stated that after the assault, the accused left him at the scene, and he somehow reached the police station in a critically injured condition. He alleged that the police refused to register his complaint and instead labelled him a habitual offender and drunkard. He also accused the police of trying to suppress the case due to personal or financial influence. Victim said- Got wife’s education completed Sanjeev said he had married Jayshri Mangrolia from Gohad through a court marriage in 2010. His wife had initially presented herself as divorced. The couple had been living separately for nearly five years. He alleged that his wife had abandoned their 14-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son. Sanjeev claimed that he had ensured his wife completed her education, helping her earn a D.Ed in 2012-13. After securing a job in 2014 with an income of around ₹60,000, disputes at home reportedly began. He further alleged that his wife filed seven false cases against him, subjected him to harassment, administered medications that weakened him physically and mentally, and threatened him with death. Daughter said – I will get justice for father His daughter, Manpreet, said her father was assaulted and had his fingers cut, and she would support him in seeking justice. She added that although her mother wants her to stay with her, she chooses to remain with her father. Police said – habitual offender, story is false The local police stated that Sanjeev Singh, aka Sonu Sardar, is a habitual offender and has a history of substance abuse. They claimed that the allegations he has made are entirely fabricated.
