9th grade student sets herself on fire troubled by harassment:Accused surrounds father; attacks him near home after FIR is filed

In Khurai, Sagar district, a ninth-grade student, troubled by harassment, poured diesel on herself and set herself on fire. Her condition is critical. She has been admitted to Bundelkhand Medical College in Sagar. The incident occurred around 6 PM on April 5 in the Malthon police station area. Station in-charge Naveen Jain stated that a case has been registered against four people, including two named individuals, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the SC-ST Act. All four accused are said to be minors. Had been harassing for 3 months The father of the 14-year-old student told the police that his daughter studies in the 9th class at a government school in Malthon. She used to commute by bus daily. A boy living in another village, 6 km away, also studied in the same school. He also used to travel by bus, but for the past three months, he had been harassing his daughter. He would call her frequently. Once he was advised not to do such things, but he didn’t listen. After that, a complaint was filed at the police station. Accused was standing in front of the house with 3 companions According to the father, when he returned home with his daughter after filing the complaint, the accused was standing in front of their house with his three companions. All four started hurling abuses. When they protested, they started beating them with kicks and punches. After the incident, the accused fled, threatening to kill them. Neck, chest, and both hands severely burnt According to the father, seeing this, the daughter got scared. She went inside the house. She poured diesel on herself and set herself on fire. Hearing the screaming, family members rushed inside. They extinguished the fire with a sheet, but by then her neck, right side of chest, and both hands were severely burnt. Family members informed Dial 112 and 108 ambulance. First, she was taken to Community Health Center Malthon. From there, seeing her critical condition, she was referred to Sagar.
