A ‘Success Mantras’ felicitation ceremony for UPSC achievers was held on Saturday at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium, celebrating the success stories of 61 candidates who cracked one of the country’s toughest exams despite limited resources and personal struggles. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, addressing the gathering, highlighted the spirit of democracy, saying, “This is its true beauty—where a tea seller can become Prime Minister and a cattle herder can rise to become Chief Minister. We too undergo a public test every five years and must earn people’s trust through our policies.” On the occasion, the Chief Minister released the booklet ‘Pratibhaon Ka Parcham’ and felicitated the successful candidates. Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar, Additional Chief Secretary Anupam Rajan, and Hindi Granth Academy Director Ashok Kadel were also present. From 37 to 61: Rise in selections Anupam Rajan noted that the initiative began in 2020, when Dr. Mohan Yadav was serving as Higher Education Minister. At that time, 37 candidates were selected; this number has now risen to 61. Notably, 20 of the successful candidates are women, and 22 studied in government colleges, proving that success is not limited to those from elite institutions. CM says: Will witness Amrit Kaal of Independence in 2047 CM’s message: ‘A tea seller can become PM and a cow herder can become CM, this is the beauty of democracy’ Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, while addressing the youth, said that you are fortunate to witness India becoming number-1 in the Amrit Kaal of 2047. Achieved multiple degrees while being in politics The CM gave his own example and said that there is no age limit for studying, he himself obtained many degrees while being in politics. ‘Examination… Selection and Accountability’ During the program, when the Chief Minister compared himself to newly appointed officers, the entire hall echoed with laughter. The CM said that “In democracy, you are fortunate that you passed one exam and your selection was confirmed. But we politicians have exams every five years. We have to go among the public, give account of our policies and win their trust again. This system keeps the country alive.” He conveyed the message that after getting a position, one should have a spirit of service rather than ego because the real test happens in the ‘field’. CM’s 5 expectations from officers The Chief Minister put forward five main points before the new officers: ‘Only one who knows history can create the future’ The CM said that despite having IT backgrounds, most youth are succeeding by taking subjects like literature and history, which is a good thing. One who denies their country’s history cannot progress in the future. Citing examples of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Shaheed Bhagat Singh, he said that today is not the time for sacrifice, but for living for the country and working for the underprivileged. ‘Myths Broken’ – Neither Delhi nor English is Essential In the ceremony, ACS Anupam Rajan said in his address that it is no longer necessary to go to Delhi or study in big institutions for UPSC. Youth from small districts like Anuppur, Dindori, Chhattarpur and Satna have proved that talent makes its way from everywhere. Many selected candidates are from farming families who achieved success without tags like IIT or St. Stephens. Dominance of Government Institutions: One of the major achievements this time is that out of these 61, 22 candidates who are direct graduates from government colleges have completed their studies from government colleges and universities in Madhya Pradesh.
