Around eight members of the Pugalia family died in a massive fire at Arham Villa in Brajeshwari NX, Indore. Following the incident, police recorded statements of over a dozen people on Wednesday and Thursday, while statements of Manoj Pugalia’s wife, Sunita, son Saurabh, and youngest brother are likely to be taken on Friday. In the initial probe, the fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit, though a special team may be formed for a detailed investigation. Additional DCP Amarendra Singh said that in the case, which claimed eight lives, including Manoj Pugalia and his daughter-in-law Simran, a short circuit has been identified as the primary cause. Tilak Nagar police have questioned several locals, including those who alerted the fire brigade. Eyewitnesses reported continuous sparking from electrical wires and sounds similar to firecrackers. Statements of rescuers and residents In this accident, neighbour Mahendra Jain rescued Manoj’s wife and sons, who the police have questioned. Additionally, information regarding the incident was also taken from neighbour Manoj Jain, rescuer Vijay Juneja, and other residents. Most people stated that sparks fell from the electricity pole and the fire spread to the vehicles. Truth to be revealed from family’s statement At the beginning of the incident, Sunita and her husband Manoj woke up and went upstairs with their son Saurabh. Manoj got stuck in the middle while trying to save his daughter-in-law, Simran. By then, smoke had spread, due to which the bodies of Manoj and Simran were found on the top floor. Now the police will try to find out when and how the family came to know about the fire, and where the fire was first seen.
