Three persons were killed and one critically injured after a speeding Swift car collided with an Eicher truck on the Ujjain–Nagda road on Tuesday morning, police said. The accident took place around 10.30 am, nearly 5 km before the Unhel toll plaza. Kailash Sharma alias Rinku, a BJP leader from Ujjain, and Devendra Joshi, who were seated in the front, died on the spot. Two others — Suresh Navlani and Pravesh Marothiya — sustained serious injuries. Navlani later died during treatment at a hospital. According to police, the victims were on their way to the Sanwariya Seth temple in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district. A passerby, Nand Kumar Mishra, said several vehicles had stopped at the site, but no immediate help was being provided. Mishra, an engineer with Grasim Industries, administered CPR to one of the injured, but he could not be revived. He said two bodies were sent in an ambulance, while Devendra Joshi was taken to a private hospital in his vehicle. Navlani succumbed to his injuries during treatment, officials said. Additional SP Alok Sharma said an Eicher truck and a Swift car collided in Goyala Buzurg village under Bherugarh police station limits, killing three people and injuring one. The truck has been seized, the injured is under treatment, and the driver is absconding.
