A one-and-a-half-month-old baby died a few hours after vaccination in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district. The family has accused an ANM of negligence. The incident took place in Ward No. 3, Indrapuri Colony of Panna city. Health deteriorated after injection According to the family, they had taken their one-and-a-half-month-old son, Prince Verma, to a local Anganwadi centre on Tuesday for routine vaccination. The family alleged that the ANM on duty administered three injections to the child at once. After returning home, the baby’s condition started deteriorating from Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning, March 11, when the family took the child to the district hospital in critical condition, doctors declared him dead after examination. After the child’s death, parents Madhuri Vanshkar and Suraj Vanshkar blamed negligence by health workers for the tragedy. Anganwadi worker said – child was healthy Anganwadi worker Samay Bundela of Ward No. 3 said the child appeared healthy at the time of vaccination. She added that what suddenly happened after the injection is a matter of investigation. As soon as information about the incident was received, the Kotwali police and a health department team became active. Police registered a case of unnatural death and began an investigation. The child’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and the exact cause of death will be known only after the report is received. Will take action on negligence Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Rajesh Prasad Tiwari said the matter has come to their notice. He added that the situation will become clear after the post-mortem report. If the child’s death is found to be due to negligence, legal action will be taken.
