Mother kills two kids by pushing them into well:Then jumps into 30-foot pit to death with her 20-day-old newborn

Three children, including a newborn, died after falling into a well in Khargone district. The tragic incident took place in the Bhomwada-Malgaon area under Sanawad police station. The victims were Arjun (4 years), Karan (2 years), and a 20-day-old newborn, while their mother, Nani Bai, survived. According to police, the father, Kalu Singh, son of Mahar Singh from Dehriya, had been working with his family as a labourer on Baliram Bhamoriya’s farm in Malgaon for the past 8–10 days. On Wednesday morning, Kalu had gone to work while his wife was at home with the three children. Villagers spot tragedy, rescue mother Around 9 am, villagers received information that Nani Bai and the children had fallen into a well. The well was reported to be approximately 30 feet deep with around 11 feet of water, and stairs were built for access. Neighbours rushed to the spot and threw a rope to pull Nani Bai out, saving her life. Unfortunately, by then the three children had already drowned. Upon hearing the news, father Kalu rushed to the scene, distraught at the sight of his children’s bodies. A Sanawad police team arrived shortly afterwards. With help from villagers, the bodies of the three children were recovered from the well around 11 am and sent to Sanawad Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Mother jumped into well to save children Local residents said the elder children, Arjun and Karan, had been playing outside and did not return. Nani Bai went to check near the well. Seeing the children in the water, she jumped in with the 20-day-old newborn in an attempt to save them. She was able to hold onto the rope and climb out, but the children could not be saved. Police investigation underway Sanawad police confirmed that Nani Bai admitted to pushing the children into the well. SP Khargone, Dr. Ravindra Verma, said the woman knew how to swim, which is why she managed to survive. Investigators are examining all aspects of the case, including her mental state and possible domestic disputes. Further action will be determined based on the post-mortem report and the mother’s statements. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections for child homicide. Villagers and family members are in shock, and the incident has cast a pall of grief over the local community.
