To accelerate development works in the city and improve coordination among departments, Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya held a key review meeting on Friday with officials from the Indore Municipal Corporation, Indore Metro Rail Project, and the Indore Development Authority. The meeting focused on roads where projects from all three agencies are being executed simultaneously, with the goal of ensuring better coordination and faster completion of infrastructure works. Focus on coordination for ongoing projects The primary objective of the meeting was to streamline construction activities taking place along the same roads. Vijayvargiya directed officials to work in close coordination so that development works are completed on time and without unnecessary inconvenience to the public. He stressed that a lack of coordination between departments often leads to repeated digging and delays, which causes disruption to traffic and daily life. Systematic shifting of underground utilities The minister highlighted that several roads currently under development involve projects by the municipal corporation, the development authority, and the metro rail simultaneously. In the future, some of these corridors will also see bridge construction and metro stations. In such cases, he said, underground utilities—including water pipelines, electricity cables, sewer lines, and telecom networks—must be shifted in a systematic and planned manner to prevent delays. Special emphasis on utility shifting in metro work Officials were instructed to plan utility relocation in advance while constructing metro stations to avoid complications later. Vijayvargiya stressed that better coordination between contractors and concerned agencies will ensure that both utility shifting and construction works are completed within the stipulated timeline. He specifically highlighted the ongoing project near Bada Ganpati Square as a key example where coordination is crucial. Projects to be completed before Simhastha Vijayvargiya also noted that the upcoming Simhastha is a major event for the region. Therefore, it is essential that all major construction works in the city are completed before the festival. He directed officials to ensure that work is finished within the set deadlines and that traffic disruptions or administrative lapses are avoided during the process.
