Daryl Mitchell has overtaken Virat Kohli to become the new number 1-ranked ODI batter in the latest ICC rankings. Even though Kohli scored a century in the third ODI against New Zealand, but Mitchell scored his second century against India in the series, finishing as the leading run-getter for his team. Mitchell previously held the 2nd ranking in the one-day format. However, his heroics in the ODI series against India earned him 61 rating points, which positioned him in the number 1 spot in the ICC men’s ODI rankings. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, who became the no.1 batter in the previous outing, could only earn 10 rating points to get to 795. Virat Kohli slips to no. 2 ODI batter place despite over 200+ in last three games In the one-day series against New Zealand, Virat Kohli’s performance was the highlight as he scored over 240 runs in three matches. However, Daryl Mitchell outperformed him with 352 runs in three matches. Every time, Mitchell scored a ton for his team, New Zealand sealed the game. The sheer dominance, particularly on foreign soil, earned him rating points that helped him overtake Virat Kohli. It is the highest ODI rating that Mitchell has registered in his career. However, it is worth noting that Men in Blue’s dominance still stays in the Top 5 spots. Ibrahim Zadran dethrones Rohit Sharma, but Men in Blue dominate rankings Afghanistan all-rounder Ibrahim Zadran has also climbed up the rankings, positioning himself at the number three spot. He has 764 rating points currently. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has slipped down to the fourth spot with 757 rating points. He could not make a splash during the ODI series against Black Caps, registering scores of 26, 24 and 11 respectively. Shubman Gill has maintained his spot in the top five, maintaining his rating points at 723. In his last three games ODI rankings, Gill scored 56, 56 and 23. They will play in the ODI series against England that will kick off on 14 July and will be played till 19 July. It is a three-game series that is set to be played in England.
