In an effort to make immunisation stress-free for children and parents, the Madhya Pradesh health department has launched model, child-friendly vaccination centres at three government hospitals in the state capital Bhopal. Unlike conventional hospital settings, these centres resemble play zones, with toys, cartoon-themed walls and dedicated play and waiting areas to reduce fear among children. Centres launched at three hospitals The model vaccination centres have been made operational at KNK Hospital, Civil Hospital Govindpura and JP Hospital. All vaccines listed under the National Immunisation Schedule are available at these centres, providing a single-window facility for families. Vaccination services are being offered daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Wide range of vaccines available Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Manish Sharma said immunisation remains one of the most effective and safe methods to protect against serious diseases. Vaccines available at the centres include protection against tuberculosis, hepatitis B, polio, measles, rotavirus diarrhoea, Japanese encephalitis, tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough, haemophilus influenza and pneumococcal pneumonia. Coverage for children, adolescents and pregnant women District Immunisation Officer Dr Ritesh Rawat said the centres will administer all vaccines for children aged 0 to 5 years, along with the TD vaccine given at 10 and 16 years of age. In addition, pregnant women will also be vaccinated at these centres. Convenience for parents Health officials said the initiative will reduce the need for families to visit multiple hospitals or return on different dates for various vaccines. By combining a child-friendly environment with comprehensive vaccination services, the centres aim to improve immunisation coverage while ensuring a comfortable experience for children.
