A shocking and shameful case related to family relationships has emerged from Khandwa district. Here, a son, along with his wife and a friend, allegedly beat his elderly father to death with a stick. After committing the murder, the three accused were reportedly preparing to cremate the body when the police uncovered the crime in time and took them into custody. According to Piplod Police Station in-charge S. N. Pandey, the deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Ramesh, son of Shivprasad Gond, a resident of Piplod village, who worked as a farmer. On Sunday, villagers noticed Ramesh’s body lying in a field with severe head injuries. They immediately informed the police, who reached the spot and began an investigation. Allegations of molestation led to murder During the course of the investigation, suspicion fell on the deceased’s son Ganesh, his wife Jyoti, and Ganesh’s friend Lalu alias Baliram. When questioned, all three allegedly confessed to the crime, stating that the incident took place on Saturday. The accused told the police that Jyoti had informed her husband that her father-in-law, Ramesh, used to molest her. Enraged by these allegations, Ganesh, his wife, and their friend allegedly attacked Ramesh with a stick in the field. The assault proved fatal, and Ramesh died on the spot. Attempt to cremate body foiled by police Police officials said that after killing Ramesh, the accused did not attempt to flee the village. Instead, they were preparing to cremate the body in order to conceal the crime. Acting on timely information, the police intervened and arrested all three accused before the cremation could take place. A case of murder has been registered against them, and further investigation is underway. Previous criminal record of the deceased According to the investigating officer, Ramesh Gond also had a criminal history and was listed as a known offender at the police station. In 2020, his daughter-in-law had lodged a rape case against him. In connection with that case, Ramesh spent around one and a half years in jail. He was later released after a compromise was reportedly reached between the parties.
