Madhya Pradesh is seeing dense fog in many areas even as nights have become slightly warmer. On Friday, half of the state was covered with dense to moderate fog, and daytime temperatures in 15 cities stayed below 24 degrees. On Saturday morning, northern parts of the state continued to face fog. The Meteorological Department has said that dense fog will last for the next three days, after which a period of intense cold is expected. Senior meteorologist Dr Divya E. Surendran said December saw no rainfall anywhere in the state, and the weather remained clear. Many districts, including Bhopal and Indore, experienced a cold wave for 15 to 16 days, and similar weather is expected to continue in January.
