The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Friday confirmed that India will tour Bangladesh for a limited-overs series in August–September 2026 amid the cross-border tensions. The tour will include three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals (T20Is), reviving a series that had been postponed earlier. Confirming the development, BCB cricket operations in charge Shahriar Nafees said the two boards have now agreed on fresh dates. Nafees says, ‘The series that was postponed earlier between Bangladesh and India has been rescheduled’. The announcement came as part of Bangladesh’s full home international calendar for the 2026 season. India is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on August 28. The three-match ODI series will be played on September 1, 3 and 6, followed by the T20I series on September 9, 12 and 13. After completing the white-ball leg, the Indian team will return home. Bangladesh to host India amid cross-border tensions As per a Cricbuzz report, Bangladesh is scheduled to host India for a series of three ODIs and three T20Is, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) already announcing the dates for the tour. While the cricketing calendar appears to be in place, the series comes at a time when cross-border relations between India and Bangladesh remain tense. In the backdrop of recent political unrest in Bangladesh and reports of the killing of innocent Hindus under the Younus government, attention now turns to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It remains to be seen whether the Indian board will go ahead and confirm the tour, given the sensitive political situation and developments in the recent past. Rohit-Virat to play 21 ODIs, including Bangladesh series If the BCCI officially gives its approval to the series, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to play a total of 21 ODIs this year. With a packed one-day schedule ahead, the additional matches could play a key role in shaping India’s plans as well as individual milestones. Virat Kohli, in particular, will be eyeing his landmark 100th international century ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup, a feat that would see him surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record. The inclusion of three ODIs against Bangladesh would further boost his chances, making the proposed series a valuable opportunity for the Indian legend. SRK faces backlash as Mustafizur’s IPL participation becomes uncertain Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan is facing huge backlash after his team signed Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman in the IPL 2026 auction. While the auction took place in December, the recent killings of Hindus in Bangladesh have soured the relations between the two countries. Amid controversy over Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman playing in IPL, the Sports Ministry has clarified its stance. A Sports Ministry official told Bhaskar – “There is no prohibition in India’s sports policy against playing with Bangladesh or its players. BCCI should take its own stand on this.” Meanwhile, a BCCI official told IANS – ”This is not in our hands. We have not received any directives from the government regarding stopping Bangladeshi players from playing in the league. We cannot say much more.” Post navigation South Africa announce T20 World Cup 2026 squad:Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton dropped; 35-year-old Keshav Maharaj included Shiv Sena demands Mustafizur’s removal from the team:Congress questions his auction entry; SRK’s IPL team faces controversy over Bangladeshi player
