42-lakh-names-to-be-deleted-from-mp-voter-list:first-draft-to-be-released-today;-here’s-what-to-do-if-your-name-is-missing

Madhya Pradesh has completed the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of its voter list.
According to sources from the Election Commission, the names of 42 lakh voters from the 2003 voter list did not match current records. The revision process, which began on 7 November 2025 and continued for nearly 45 days, involved over thousands of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visiting homes to verify voters physically. Today, the first draft of the voter list will be published. Naturally, citizens are concerned about what will happen if their names are missing, whether they can vote in the future, and where they should file complaints.
Bhaskar spoke to officials from the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office to explain the process in detail and answer key questions. 1. How to check your name in the draft list Once the draft is released on 23 December 2025, voters can check their names using two methods: Online:
Visit the Election Commission’s official website (eci.gov.in
) or download the Voter Helpline App on your smartphone. Use the “Search in Electoral Roll” option and enter your name, father’s name, or Voter ID (EPIC) number to verify your status. Offline:
If online verification is difficult, voters can contact their local BLO, who will have the complete draft list for the area. The list will also be available for inspection at Tehsil offices or the district election offices. 2. My name was in 2003 list but missing in 2025 draft There is no need to panic. The draft list is not final. If your name from the old list is missing in the new draft, it could be due to verification issues such as: Solution:
You can re-add your name by filing a claim using Form-6. This can be submitted online through the Voter Helpline App or offline via your BLO. The deadline for filing claims is 14 February 2026. 3. Role of BLOs after draft publication From 23 December 2025 onwards, BLOs will play a crucial role: 4. Documents required to re-add your name Voters will need to provide proof of citizenship and date of birth, depending on their age: 5. What to do if multiple names are wrongly deleted in my area If a group of voters from a locality or community has been removed incorrectly or deliberately, they can file objections. Solution: 6. What about errors like 100 names on one address? The Election Commission is strictly monitoring logical errors. If an unusually high number of voters are registered at a single address: 7. Will a separate list be published for deleted names? Yes. To ensure transparency, the Election Commission will release a deleted names list along with the final voter list on 21 February 2026. 8. Could the number of polling booths increase? Yes. According to Election Commission rules: After claims and objections are resolved, if adding new voters exceeds these limits, assistant polling stations will be created, potentially increasing the total number of booths.
