Cops ascertain identity of man found dead in sack:CCTV footage of him heading to Kazi Camp surfaces; son suspects debtors of killing him

The Ashoka Garden police of Bhopal on Wednesday have ascertained the identity of the elderly man, who was found dead inside a sack in the area on Tuesday afternoon. The man was dumped in the Patra Nala in Pushpa Nagar locality of Bhopal’s Ashoka Garden. As per police, a CCTV footage capturing his final moments before death has surfaced. The victim’s son has alleged that his father was killed by individuals who owed him money. Discovery of body, identification Ashoka Garden police station in-charge Anurag Lal told Bhaskar English that the man whose body was found on Tuesday has been identified as Saeed Rashidi (64), a resident of Saeed Colony in Nishatpura area. On Tuesday noon, he was found wrapped in a plastic sack. The victim’s son, Nasir Khan, confirmed the identification at the Hamidia Hospital mortuary. A post-mortem examination is underway in the presence of family members, the police said. Rashidi had been reported missing on October 18, 2025, by his family members at Bhopal’s Hanumanganj Police Station. Following the discovery of the body, Ashoka Garden Police registered a murder case and initiated an investigation. Circumstances leading to murder Saeed Rashidi, who dealt in property transactions, had reportedly taken Rs 2,000 from a young man in Kazi Camp. On October 17, he visited Kazi Camp on his bike and met a person named Aamir Kabab. CCTV footage captured Rashidi before the meeting, but he was not seen returning the same way afterward. According to his son, Rashidi had financial dealings with several individuals, including Soni and Guddu, who allegedly owed him money. Nasir told the police that he suspects that the murder was linked to a financial dispute, as his father’s vehicle was later found parked at Sheeba Petrol Pump in the Kazi Camp area. Nature of injuries The post-mortem revealed that the Rashidi had been brutally attacked. His throat was slit with a sharp weapon, a knife was thrust into his chest, and multiple injuries were found on other parts of his body. Reporting of the Crime Local resident Adil Khan sensed a foul smell near Patra Nala on Tuesday and discovered the body inside a plastic sack. He immediately alerted the Ashoka Garden Police. The cops noted that there are no CCTV cameras around the scene, making it difficult to trace the perpetrators. Police are using technical analysis and surveillance footage from nearby areas to identify and apprehend the suspects, they said.
