Labourer falls from 8th floor of under-construction building:Dies upon arrival at hospital; incident unfolds in Kolar area, police probe on

A construction worker died after falling from the eighth floor of an under-construction building under suspicious circumstances in the Mandakini Colony of Bhopal’s Kolar area, the police said. As per police, the incident occurred late on Tuesday night. According to police, the victim’s colleagues immediately rushed him to hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and have launched a probe into the incident. Man identified as Nitesh Bairagi, native of Raisen Kolar police station in-charge Sanjay Singh Soni told Bhaskar English that the man who met the ill-fate has been identified as Nitesh Bairagi (30), a native of the Chopra village in Raisen district. He had come to Bhopal for construction work and was employed at a multi-storey project near Mandakini Square in Kolar. According to his co-worker, Ravi, the incident occurred at around 10 pm when the eighth-floor slab was being laid. At that time, most of the labourers were having dinner, while Nitesh went upstairs to take a phone call. Bairagi falls during phone call While speaking on the phone, Nitesh slipped under mysterious circumstances and fell from the eighth floor to the fifth-floor balcony. He was found lying in a pool of blood and was rushed to JK Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead after examination. Police received the information from the hospital and initiated proceedings under section 174 of CrPC. The body was handed over to the family on Wednesday afternoon after a post-mortem examination. Nitesh was the father of 4-month-old daughter Nitesh was married in 2021 to a woman from his village, the police came to know. The couple was recently blessed with their first child, a daughter, born four months ago after years of prayers and family hopes. Co-workers claimed that despite the incident, construction work continued at the site until 4 am. They also alleged that none of the site supervisors or contractors accompanied the injured worker to the hospital.
