A seminar on road safety and traffic rules was organised at the School of Legal Studies at the LNCT University in Bhopal, under the theme ‘Parvah’ declared by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of Government of India. The initiative was also aligned with the recommendations of the Supreme Court Road Safety Committee. Senior police officials remain in attendance Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra was present as the chief guest on the occasion. He was joined by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jitendra Singh Pawar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic Zone-4) Devendra Singh Yadav, along with the representatives of the university, JN Chouksey, RN Thapak, Dean Dr Mukesh Sahu, and staff members of the Traffic Education Cell. Awareness must reach youth: Cops Addressing the law students, the city’s top cop, Mishra emphasised that such awareness drives should be held throughout the year to spread road safety education to a wider audience. He underlined the importance of instilling discipline among school and college students, particularly focusing on the 18–35 age group, who are most vulnerable to road accidents. “Proper arrangements should be made so that young people avoid becoming victims of road mishaps,” he underscored. Training, lectures held on traffic rules The programme began with practical training on traffic regulations, followed by an illustrated lecture delivered by ACP (Traffic) Devendra Singh Yadav. He explained the evolution of traffic systems from their inception to the current framework. Adding to this, DCP (Traffic) Pawar advised that law students must strictly follow traffic rules and encourage their families and peers to do the same. Students were also invited to visit the Traffic Police Station for further insights into traffic management and safety protocols. University officials extend gratitude In his concluding address, Dean Dr Mukesh Sahu thanked the Police Commissioner and the traffic department officials for their presence.
