Lokpal police raided four locations on Thursday, including the home of former PWD Chief Engineer Govind Prasad Mehra. On Friday, the team began checking the properties and bank documents found at his house. So far, investigators have found Mehra owns 8 fixed deposits, a piece of land in Narmadapuram, and a flat in a posh Bhopal colony. The total value of his movable and immovable property exceeds ₹15 crore. Information on total income sought through correspondence with the department According to the information, the Lokpal team has sought details of Mehra’s entire tenure from PWD through correspondence. Through this letter, information regarding the total salary earned by Mehra during his tenure, from his recruitment to retirement, has been sought. Information about when and where he was posted has also been requested. Information also sought from Registrar Office Through correspondence, Lokayukta has also sought information from the Registrar Office regarding the total properties registered in the name of Mehra and his family. Along with this, notices are also being issued for questioning to his relatives and close associates in whose names G.P. Mehra has made agreements or bought and sold properties. His and his family members’ bank accounts are also being frozen. What was found where during the raids Valuation of properties continued The operation started at 6 AM on Thursday. The Lokayukta team investigated properties, FDs, shares, and insurance documents related to Mehra till late at night. The valuation of these properties continued on Friday as well. Information emerged about additional agricultural land beyond the farmhouse in Narmadapuram and another flat in Bhopal. Case Registered Under Prevention of Corruption Act Lokayukta SP Durgesh Rathore informed that GP Mehra has purchased known and benami properties worth several crores of rupees in Bhopal, Narmadapuram, and Sohagpur in his and his family members’ names. Their valuation is ongoing. After verification, upon finding the allegations prima facie correct, a case has been registered against him under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (amended 2018).
