The Health Department in Bhopal has intensified its action against private hospitals and clinics operating without registration or licences. On Tuesday, officials shut down Al-Shifa Clinic in Bhopal’s Jehangirabad area, after it was found functioning without mandatory approval. Doctor absent during the inspection According to officials, a team from the Chief Medical and Health Officer’s (CMHO) office of Bhopal carried out an inspection at around 2 pm on Tuesday. During the visit, no doctor was present at the facility. Instead, the team found a man identified as Akram Khan. He informed the officials that Dr RW Bakshi (MD, Medicine), whose name was displayed on the clinic’s signboard, did not attend the clinic regularly. Medicines, medical equipment seized The inspection revealed a stock of allopathic medicines, drip sets, syringes and injection vials inside the clinic. As the establishment had neither registration nor a valid licence, officials ordered the premises to remain closed. The Health Department has also notified the police, the Drug Controller, and the local administration about the irregularities. He emphasised that information about such irregularities will also be shared with concerned departments for further action.
