A 30-year-old woman and her one-year-old daughter fell from the rooftop of their residential building in Rajvansh Colony, located in Bhopal’s Nishatpura area, the police reported on Thursday. As per police, both the mother and her child succumbed to their injuries. The police are investigating whether the incident was a case of suicide or a fatal accident. Woman named Gauri Sisodiya Investigating officer (IO) at Nishatpura police station, Ramprasad Bharti told Bhaskar English that the woman, identified as Gauri Sisodiya, had dinner with her family before informing them she was going upstairs for a walk. She took her infant daughter, Oni, with her. Discovery made after loud noise Moments later, a loud crashing sound alerted the family and neighbours. They rushed to the spot and found both mother and child lying in a pool of blood. The duo was immediately rushed to People’s Hospital. Gauri was declared dead on arrival, while the infant died during treatment. The police were informed, who registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation. The post-mortem is scheduled for Thursday. Husband’s account of event Gauri’s husband, Gyanendra Sisodiya, told the cops that the family usually went for a walk after dinner. On the evening of the tragedy, he dropped his wife at their building before stepping out to buy groceries from a nearby shop. While speaking to the shopkeeper, he received a frantic call from his sister-in-law, asking him to rush home due to an accident. Upon returning, he found his wife unconscious and his sister-in-law holding the injured child. Both had fallen through the ventilation gap of the multi-storey building. Sequence of the fall Neighbours informed Gyanendra that Gauri was seated on the boundary with the child when Oni slipped from her grasp and fell. In an attempt to save her daughter, Gauri too plunged down, leading to the deaths of both. Married three years ago in an arranged match, Gauri was a homemaker. The couple had moved to Bhopal two years ago, where Gyanendra has been preparing for competitive examinations alongside working in a liquor company. The family hails from Sehore.
