HDFC Bank has appointed Anup Bagchi as its new managing director and chief executive officer. Bagchi will take charge from 27 October for a three-year term. After receiving approval from the RBI, the bank announced the appointment in a stock exchange filing on 1 October. The term of incumbent MD and CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan ends on 26 October. Jagdishan had not sought reappointment for another term. Anup Bagchi has more than 30 years of experience in the banking and financial sectors. Before taking charge of HDFC, India’s largest private bank, he served as the managing director and chief executive officer of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. Kaizad Bharucha was also in the running for the MD-CEO post Earlier, media reports had said that the bank had proposed two names for the top post. The first was Anup Bagchi, who is the managing director and chief executive officer of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. The second was Kayad Bharucha, the deputy managing director of HDFC Bank. Anoop Kumar becomes Kotak Bank’s MD and CEO Earlier today, Kotak Mahindra Bank appointed Anoop Kumar Saha as its new MD and CEO. His tenure will be for three years. Saha will take charge of the post from 1 January 2027. He is currently the bank’s Executive Director. Saha has more than 32 years of experience, including 25 years in banking and non-banking financial institutions.
