India’s stock markets rose in early trading on Wednesday, 23 September, 2026 on US-Iran talks. Sensex was up 200 points and Nifty rose to 23,400 points. Sectorally, on the NSE, barring Nifty IT, all other indices mostly rose with Nifty Metal being the biggest gainer, rising 1.19% US-Iran hold 3-hour talks in New York US and Iranian officials held around three hours of talks in New York on Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, with Qatar mediating between the two sides. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi were involved in the discussions. According to The Guardian, a senior Iranian official said Tehran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the US takes steps to reduce military and economic pressure on Iran. Oil slips below $100/barrel mark to a 2-week low Oil prices continued to fall. Brent crude futures declined to a 2-week low of $98 a barrel at the time of writing this article.
