To strengthen crime control and law and order in Gwalior district, police carried out a large-scale combing operation on Tuesday night, arresting 222 long-absconding accused. During the special drive, police also conducted surprise checks at the homes of 270 history-sheeters and identified criminals across the district to verify their activities. From Gwalior SSP to constables, everyone was on the streets The special feature of this campaign was that under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police Dharamvir Singh, all senior officers and police force of the district were on the ground from the evening. Police teams in different police station areas took simultaneous action, raiding the possible hideouts of the absconding accused. During the campaign, several permanent warrant holders and habitual offenders were also apprehended by the police, who had been evading arrest for a long time. 270 history-sheeters and goons checked The action was not limited to arrests only. The police also investigated 270 history-sheeters and listed goons of the district. Their presence was confirmed by visiting their homes, and they were warned of strict legal action, including district externment and the National Security Act (NSA), if found involved in any criminal activity in the future. Senior Superintendent of Police Dharamvir Singh said that such combing operations and intensive search campaigns will continue in the future to strengthen the sense of security among common citizens and maintain the fear of law among criminals.
