Food Department bust fake paneer billing network:Fake dairy invoices used for hotel paneer supplies; stock seized, samples sent for testing

The Food Department in Ujjain has uncovered an alleged fake billing racket involving the supply of paneer to local hotels. During the operation, officials detained a supplier who was allegedly purchasing paneer from one dairy while issuing invoices in the name of another dairy to hotel owners. The department has seized the paneer, sent samples for laboratory testing, and informed the police about the case. Supplier intercepted during hotel delivery According to officials, a man identified as Atul Badhwar arrived, as he reportedly did every day, to deliver paneer to Satyug Inn Hotel, located behind the Choubis Khamba Mata Temple near the Mahakal Temple area. Acting on a complaint, a Food Department team that was already present at the location stopped him for questioning. Officials sought licences and previous bills During questioning by Food Safety Officers Basant Sharma and B.S. Dewaliya, officials found that Atul had allegedly purchased paneer from Yashoda Dairy in Nagjhiri but provided hotel operators with invoices bearing the name of Madhur Dairy in Freeganj. The team seized the paneer in his possession and collected samples for laboratory analysis. Officials also asked him to produce previous invoices and the relevant licences for verification. Police Informed as Investigation Continues Food Safety Officer Basant Sharma said the preliminary investigation suggests fake invoices were used in the supply chain. He said the department is examining all related documents and will initiate legal action if violations are confirmed. The Mahakal Police Station has also been informed about the matter. Further action to depend on laboratory report The Food Department is now awaiting the laboratory analysis of the paneer samples. Further action regarding the quality of the paneer and the alleged use of fake invoices will be taken based on the test results and document verification.
