defence-factory-to-be-built-in-mp’s-shivpuri:investment-of-2,500-crores-on-103-acres-of-land;-more-than-2-thousand-will-get-employment

Pali village in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district has long been known for farming, with crops such as tomatoes, wheat and gram dominating its fields. Soon, however, the village is set to gain a new identity with the establishment of a major defence manufacturing unit. Adani Defence Aerospace is setting up a defence manufacturing facility near Pali village in the Kolaras area with an investment of around ₹2,500 crore. The project is expected to generate over 2,000 direct jobs. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Adani Group officials will perform the groundbreaking ceremony on 5 July. Ahead of the ceremony, a Dainik Bhaskar team visited the project site and Pali village. While work has yet to begin and the site remains quiet, villagers are already discussing the opportunities the project could bring. Many hope it will reduce the need for local youth to migrate to states such as Gujarat and Maharashtra in search of work. Residents believe the investment could transform the economy of the entire region. Highway and Rail connectivity made the difference Pali’s selection was driven by its strategic location. The proposed factory site lies along National Highway-27, providing direct road connectivity to Rajasthan and Gujarat. National Highway-46 is also nearby, linking the area with Bhopal and other parts of Madhya Pradesh. The site is also served by a railway line, allowing the efficient transportation of heavy machinery, raw materials and finished products by both road and rail. According to experts, this strong transport network makes Pali an ideal location for a defence manufacturing facility. Company manufactures equipment like ammunition and drones Adani Defense and Aerospace is already active in the defense sector. The company manufactures small arms, ammunition, drones, counter-drone systems, security equipment, and products related to modern defense technology. It is believed that the Shivpuri unit will also play a significant role in increasing the country’s defense production capacity. This unit, being built near Pali village, is being considered the largest industrial investment in Shivpuri so far. However, the company has not yet publicly disclosed which defense products will be manufactured here. Such information is not shared beforehand for security reasons. Employment is the most discussed topic in the village The villagers say that the biggest benefit from this project will be in the form of employment. Bharat Singh Yadav says, “Farming alone cannot sustain us throughout the year. Many boys from the village work in Gujarat and Maharashtra. If a factory starts here, family members will be able to work close to home.” Janak Yadav explains, “If employment is available here, migration will stop, and families will stay together.” Siddharth Singh demands that local youth should be given priority in recruitment. The villagers say that training should also be started in ITI, polytechnic and other technical institutions according to the needs of the industry, so that local youth can get the full benefit of these jobs. The villagers say that if industry is coming, then training according to the industry’s needs should also be started in ITI, polytechnic and technical institutions. Only then will local youth be able to get the full benefit of these jobs. Possibility of more than 12 thousand jobs It is estimated that around 2 thousand people will get direct employment from the project. At the same time, there is a possibility of more than 10 thousand people getting indirect employment through transport, hotels, dhabas, security services, construction work, rental houses and small businesses. Its benefit will not be limited to Pali village only. People from Kolaras, Badarwas, Shivpuri city and surrounding villages are also expected to benefit from it. Area moving from agriculture to industry The Kolharas region has been predominantly agricultural until now, but with the arrival of large industries, there is a possibility of change in the local economy. The establishment of industries increases the demand for housing. Hotels, dhabas, transport, warehouses, service centers, and small businesses develop. This increases the flow of cash in the market and also gives momentum to the economy of surrounding villages. This defense unit being built on 103 acres of land near Pali village is not just a factory, but is being considered a symbol of Shivpuri’s changing industrial and economic identity. Now people’s attention is on when and how many employment opportunities will be available to local youth. Local youth get opportunities Before the groundbreaking ceremony, the most discussed topic in the village was when recruitment would begin at the factory and whether local youth would be given priority. If this happens, this project could be a new beginning for thousands of youth who have been migrating to other states for employment for years. This investment, starting on 103 acres of land near Pali village, known for agriculture, is not just a factory, but the story of Shivpuri’s changing economic identity. Now everyone’s eyes are on how quickly these hopes turn into reality.
