52 litres petrol filled into 50-litre tank?:RTI exposes PWD’s rented car; records link to minister

Several shocking irregularities have come to light through an RTI on the use of rented vehicles in the Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD). Documents show that some vehicles with a fuel tank capacity of 50 litres were allegedly filled with 52 to 55 litres of fuel, raising serious questions over fuel records. The RTI documents also reveal that the PWD provided rented vehicles not only for its own officials but also for officers of the Tribal Welfare Department and the then Minister of State. The Congress has questioned the allocation of vehicles, fuel expenses, and whether official rules were followed. PWD Rented a vehicle and gave it to the Tribal department Congress leader Bhupendra Gupta stated that, according to RTI documents, on June 13, 2023, PWD allocated taxi vehicles to officers and employees. Among these, 11 cars were allocated for the office of the Principal Engineer (Building). Four for the Chief Engineer (Building), four for the Chief Architect’s office, five for the Executive Engineer (Building), and two cars for the Ministry were allocated. PWD also allocated a Scorpio and a Bolero to the officers of the Scheduled Tribe Department located in Satpura Bhawan. Bhupendra Gupta says that when all departments issue separate tenders for hiring taxi vehicles, why did PWD hire vehicles for the officers of the Tribal Department? Innova also rented and provided to the minister According to RTI documents, PWD had also rented an Innova Crysta for the then Minister of State Suresh Dhakad. Bhupendra Gupta says that the minister gets an Innova from the State Garage, so why did the department separately rent another Innova Crysta? Despite not being eligible, a taxi car was given to the Sub Engineer Bhupendra Gupta says that PWD allotted rented vehicles even to officers who were not eligible for a vehicle.
