An 18-year-old youth, Jai Prakash Thakur, was allegedly murdered with a sword in the G Block Tapri area under Birlagrama police station limits in Nagda on Sunday night. Police said the incident reportedly stemmed from a minor altercation over a request for a beedi (cigarette). According to allegations, around 50-year-old Mohanlal Dholi carried out the attack following a brief argument. Locals said the accused was in an inebriated state when he asked the victim for a beedi. When Jai Prakash refused, stating he did not have one, the situation escalated into a heated dispute. Eyewitnesses further claimed that during the altercation, the accused struck the youth in the chest with a sword. The attack was so severe that it caused a deep wound extending from the chest to the abdomen, leading to his death on the spot. The incident has triggered outrage in the area, with family members questioning the police response. Parents work in Indore According to relatives, Jai Prakash lived with his grandparents in Nagda, while his parents live in Indore for employment. They allege that some other youths were also present with the accused at the time of the incident. However, the police have so far registered a case only against the main accused. The relatives are demanding that a case should also be registered against others involved in the incident. There is anger in the area over the incident. Relatives and local people have warned that if action is not taken against other accused, they will protest by placing the body on the road.
