A 19-year-old woman working in Ujjain’s medicine market was allegedly stabbed 14 times by a man in a shocking broad daylight attack on Friday at around 1 pm. The victim, identified as Pooja Rajak, a resident of Bapu Nagar, sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. A video of the incident has also surfaced. Victim worked as computer operator at pharma firm According to available information, Pooja had been working as a computer operator at Dayal Pharma in Freeganj for the past eight months. She was on her way to work as usual when a young man stopped her near the main gate of the medicine market. The two reportedly spoke briefly before the accused suddenly pulled out a knife and launched a brutal attack, stabbing her multiple times. Doctors report deep injuries After carrying out the assault, the accused fled the scene. Hearing the commotion, nearby shopkeepers and passersby rushed to help and immediately shifted the injured woman to Charak Hospital. Doctors who examined her said she suffered deep wounds to her abdomen, hand, and neck. Family suspects man who had been harassing her Pooja’s mother, Aarti Rajak, said the family did not personally know the attacker but claimed that a man named Sunil had been harassing her daughter for the past four to five days. She added that he had been warned about his behaviour two days earlier. According to police, the victim has also named Sunil in her statement and accused him of carrying out the knife attack. The accused remains absconding, and further investigation is underway.
