A 26-year-old pregnant woman in Gwalior died during treatment after alleging in a video recorded before her death that her husband assaulted, tortured, and forced her to drink acid. Police are investigating the video, medical reports, and other evidence. Nisha Rathore, a resident of New Mehar Colony in the Thatipur police station area, was admitted to Jayarogya Hospital in critical condition on 22 June and died on Wednesday evening. Serious allegations made in video In the video that surfaced before her death, Nisha appears in a serious condition. In the video, she says that for three-four days, her husband Gajendra Rathore had been continuously assaulting and mentally torturing her. She alleges that when she resisted, her husband forcibly made her drink acid. The police are investigating the authenticity of this video and the allegations made in it. Nisha was two months pregnant According to family members, Nisha was two months pregnant and had also informed her mother, Sunita Rathore, about it. However, the police say that official confirmation of the pregnancy will only come after the post-mortem and medical reports are available. Complaint filed two and a half years ago too The investigation revealed that Nisha had filed a complaint against her husband at the Thatipur police station about two and a half years ago, on 31 December, 2023, alleging dowry demand, assault, and harassment. At that time, the husband had given a written assurance at the police station that he would not assault or harass his wife in the future. He had also written that if any such incident occurred again, legal action could be taken against him. Dispute ongoing since marriage According to information, Nisha and Gajendra were married on 1 May, 2022. Shortly after the marriage, complaints of domestic disputes and disagreements between the two had been surfacing. Regarding the matter, CSP Robin Jain stated that after the woman’s death, a case of suspicious death has been registered and an investigation has been initiated. Further legal action will be taken based on the videos that have surfaced, statements from family members, medical reports, and other evidence. The police say that the investigation is still ongoing. The allegations made in the video and the causes of the woman’s death will only be confirmed after the investigation is complete.
