A speeding car crashed into a truck on the Delhi-Mumbai 8-lane Expressway in Mandsaur district’s Sitamau police station area at around 11 am on Thursday, killing four people and seriously injuring two others. Police said all six occupants were residents of Aurangabad, Maharashtra, and were travelling to Delhi. According to eyewitnesses, the car was moving at high speed when the driver lost control and rammed into the truck. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely crushed, trapping the occupants inside. Passersby and other vehicle drivers on the expressway started rescue operations. Upon receiving information, police and ambulance also reached the spot. After much effort, all the injured and deceased were pulled out of the car. All the injured were taken to Sitamau Community Health Centre, where doctors declared four people dead. Treatment for two other injured is ongoing. Their condition is said to be serious. Two deceased identified Police have identified Ravindra Kale and Sachin Gangadhar Gajbhare, both residents of Aurangabad (Maharashtra), among the deceased. Efforts are being made to identify the truck with the help of nearby CCTV cameras and the expressway’s surveillance system. In the preliminary investigation by Sitamau police station, high speed and loss of control over the vehicle are considered to be the cause of the accident.
