A 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were found dead inside a car on Isagar Road near Mahana village in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashoknagar district early Thursday. Police suspect the two died from gunshot wounds and have recovered a pistol from the vehicle. The incident came to light around 3 am on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday after locals spotted the parked car and alerted the police. The deceased have been identified as Ritik Soni (26) and Muskan Jain (24), both residents of Ashoknagar. According to police, both had left their homes late on Wednesday evening. When they failed to return, their family members launched a search and informed the Kotwali police station. Police tracked the mobile phone locations of the two, which led them to Isagar Road near Mahana village. A car was found parked by the roadside. Bodies found on front seat When officers inspected the vehicle, they found both victims lying on the front seat in a pool of blood. Preliminary findings indicate that Ritik sustained a gunshot wound to the head, while Muskan had deep injury marks on her body. A pistol recovered from inside the car has intensified the investigation. Police conducted the panchnama, took the bodies into custody and sent them to the district hospital for postmortem. Postmortem to determine cause of death Dehat police station in-charge Bhuvnesh Sharma said the police team reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and recovered both bodies from inside the car. He said the case is being investigated from all possible angles. The exact cause of death and the sequence of events will be established after the postmortem report is received.
