An Indore-based law student arrested for allegedly selling fake Re-NEET 2026 question papers has told investigators that he created the AI-generated documents using ChatGPT and other AI applications. According to police, the accused, Akshay Malviya, initially posted generic question papers on Instagram but received little attention. He later began sharing them under the name of NEET after speculation about a possible re-examination gained traction online. Viral posts attracted hundreds of messages During questioning, Akshay reportedly admitted that one of his Instagram stories featuring a fake NEET paper received around 8,000 likes and hundreds of messages. Police said he claimed his primary motivation was to gain popularity on social media, with the growing engagement encouraging him to continue posting the misleading content. Kota cyber cell posed as buyers The alleged fraud came to light after the Kota Cyber Cell noticed the posts and contacted Akshay while posing as prospective buyers. To gain his confidence, investigators transferred money to his account while simultaneously tracking his location and gathering evidence. Once the information was verified, Indore Police were alerted, leading to his arrest. Instagram issued warnings before account was blocked Investigators said Instagram had sent Akshay two warnings regarding his activities, but he allegedly ignored them. His account was subsequently blocked. The Indore Crime Branch’s Special Investigation Team arrested him on June 20. Police allege that he shared fake links on Instagram and collected money from around 30 to 35 students. Investigation ongoing According to Crime Branch officials, police questioned Akshay in the presence of his family after bringing him to the control room in Indore. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the alleged online fraud and examining the extent of the scam.
